Internal Plastering in Somerset & Dorset

Expert internal plastering for new builds, extensions and full home renovations. Smooth, level walls and ceilings finished to the highest standard across Somerset.

Professional Internal Plastering

Whether you are building a new home, renovating an existing property or simply need a room re-plastered, Render-It Ltd provides professional internal plastering services across Somerset and Dorset. Our experienced plasterers work to a consistently high standard, delivering smooth, flat surfaces that are ready for decoration.

Internal plastering typically involves a two-stage process: first, a base or backing coat is applied to level the surface and provide a key for the finish coat. Once the backing coat has set, a thin skim coat of finish plaster is applied and trowelled smooth to achieve the final surface.

We work on all types of internal surfaces including brick, block, concrete, lath and plaster, and plasterboard. We take care to mask and protect floors, skirtings and fixtures, and clear up thoroughly on completion.

Internal Plastering FAQs

What is internal plastering?

Internal plastering is the process of applying a smooth, level plaster finish to internal walls and ceilings. It typically involves applying a backing coat to the surface followed by a finish skim coat to achieve a smooth surface ready for painting or wallpapering.

How long does internal plastering take to dry?

Fresh plaster typically takes between 3 days and 2 weeks to fully dry, depending on the thickness, temperature and ventilation. A newly plastered room will feel dry to the touch after a day or two, but full carbonation takes longer. It is important to allow plaster to dry fully before painting.

Can you plaster over existing plaster?

Yes — in many cases it is possible to apply a skim coat over existing plaster that is sound but rough or uneven. However, if the existing plaster is loose, damp-damaged or heavily contaminated, it should be removed first. We assess each surface and advise accordingly.

How much does internal plastering cost in Somerset?

Plastering costs depend on the size of the rooms, the condition of existing surfaces and the finish required. Call Render-It Ltd on 07368 944056 for a free no-obligation quote for your project.
